Budget Cuts Mean Delays On Ashford Ring Road12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Fri 14th Dec 2007
KCC must be realistic and must not give the public false hope! At the Kent County Council meeting held Thursday 13 December, George Koowaree Member for Ashford East, questioned Mr Ferrin, Cabinet Member for Environment, Highways and Waste about the cost of the reconfiguration of Ashford Ring Road and whether it was within the original estimate. Mr Ferrin in response, did not answer the question and provide the Council with details of the budgeted sum, instead he informed the meeting that part of phase one had to be limited and managed to match the funding available, due to the cost of the works. George said "I look forward to the early release to myself and the residents of Ashford the details of what works are being cut to fit the budget". He continued "I see this is yet another over ambitious scheme with no proper financial assessment". Editor's note: The Full Question & Answer are available on the Lib Dem website: Related Link:
